Path Optical Systems, Inc. was chosen as one of 50 teams highlighted by Tampa Bay Inno on Fire

Path Optical is developing a process for creating smaller optical interconnects between optical chips and components. The company has won a $10,000 Cade Museum prize and a $25,000 BRAG award. Dr. Venkat Bhethanabotla was the Principle Investigator (PI) for a Fall 2017 USF I-Corps team.
Stereology Resource Center, Inc. Awarded $736,172 NSF Phase II Grant

The Stereology Resource Center (SRC), Inc. was awarded a $736,172 National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to continue their research and development for the project titled “STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) Phase II: Deep Learning Technology for the Microscopic Analysis of Stained Cells Using Unbiased Methods.”
Leadership for the project will be provided by Principal Investigator Peter R. Mouton, Ph.D., President and Chief Scientific Officer of SRC Biosciences in Tampa, Florida and co-Principal Investigators Computer Science and Engineering Distinguished University Professor and Vice Chair Dmitry Goldgof and Computer Science and Engineering Distinguished University Professor Lawrence Hall. Prior to conducting this research, Mouton led his team through the I-Corps program at USF Research and Innovation.
The work of Dr. Ali Yalcin and his research partner, Dr. Carla Vandeweerd, has seen them develop HomeSense from a project to a product that in the coming years may be available commercially.

Justin Nussbaum, Ph.D., always thought he would need to finish his doctorate, get industry experience and save up to reach his life's goal of starting his own company.
That was, however, before he laid the foundation of his business in the National Science Foundation's (NSF) I-Corps program and was later awarded an entrepreneurial research fellowship from Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee — the largest U.S. Department of Energy science and energy laboratory in the country. Justin Nussbaum, Ph.D. was an Entrepreneurial Lead (EL) for a 2017 National I-Corps team.

USF associate vice president for Special Programs, Dr. Sudeep Sarkar, appeared on a panel along with UCF and FAU about I-Corps at the annual conference of the Florida Economic Development Council. The panel addressed “Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship through I-Corps."
